Dr. Augustus Hallmon |
Dr. Augustus Hallmon, an assistant professor of recreation at Northwest Missouri State University, has been elected to the Board of Directors for The Academy of Leisure Sciences (TALS).
The organization works to promote the intellectual advancement of leisure sciences. Hallmon was elected to a 3-year term on the Board and will serve in a critical leadership role for the largest and most prestigious professional association for educators in recreation and leisure studies.
Hallmon joined the Northwest faculty in 2016 and his academic interests include positive youth development within recreation, racial socialization within recreation, cultural competency within recreation agencies, out-of-school recreation activities and community recreation. He has a Ph.D. in recreation, sport and tourism and a bachelor’s degree in leisure studies, both from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). He earned his master’s degree in information systems management: project management from the DeVry Keller School of Management.
