Liles crowned Homecoming king, Carter named is queen

Northwest Missouri State University crowned Jacob Liles and Megan Carter its 2018 Homecoming king and queen Thursday during opening night of the University’s annual Homecoming Variety Show.

Liles, of Maryville, is a senior mathematics major and was sponsored by Sigma Tau Gamma. He also is active at Northwest with Order of Omega, Pi Mu Epsilon and the Homecoming Committee.

Carter, of Omaha, Nebraska, is a senior elementary education major, with a concentration in language arts, and her sponsor was Sigma Sigma Sigma. She also is active with Cardinal Key, National Society of Leadership and Success, Student Senate, Order of Omega and the Student Recreation Center.

Northwest students selected the king and queen during a week of online voting Oct. 1-5.

This year's Homecoming prince is Landon Tapps, who is the son of Tyler and Christy Tapps and a first grader at Eugene Field Elementary School. The Homecoming princess is Mylee McElvain, who is the daughter of Northwest staff members Chad and Rachel McElvain and is in prekindergarten at Eugene Field Elementary School. 

Northwest continues its Homecoming activities, “The Greatest Show at Northwest,” through Oct. 13. Events are open to all Northwest students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, friends and community members. For a complete schedule of activities, visit www.nwmissouri.edu/getinvolved/homecoming/.
