Northwest Missouri State University’s Department of Language, Literature and Writing will host authors E.J. Koh and Amy Meng during its next installment of the 2017-18 Visiting Writers Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Living Room.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a reading and question-answer session. Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corporation, Green Tower Press, and the Department of Language, Literature and Writing are sponsors of the series.

Koh, who uses her cultural background to produce writing about love and sorrow relating to the topic of immigration, is the author of “A Lesser Love” and the 2017 recipient of the Pleiades Press Editors Prize for Poetry. More information about Koh and her work is available at https://thisisejkoh.com/.

Meng is the author of “Bridled” and a recent recipient of the Lena-Miles Wever Todd Prize. “Bridled” is a collection of poems in reverse chronology that tell a story of torn relationships with a political spin. More information about Meng and her work is available at www.amymeng.com.

The Visiting Writers Series is designed to promote creativity, diversity, and literature as a living and meaningful art form that enriches lives and helps to build and strengthen communities.

The 2017-18 series concludes with Peter Conners, a publisher and writer of nonfiction and poetry, on Thursday, April 5.
