Country music artist Chase Rice’s “Lambs & Lions Tour” has announced it will stop at Northwest Missouri State University, and ticket sales begin Sept. 4 at the University.

The concert, sponsored by Northwest’s Student Activities Council, is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Bearcat Arena.

Tickets are available online for Northwest students, at a cost of $10. Student tickets are available on the Northwest campus in the cashiering office, located on the first floor of the Administration Building.

Remaining tickets are available to the public for $20, and tickets purchased on the day of the show increase $5.

The “Lambs and Lions Tour” kicked off Sept. 14 in Boone, N.C. at Appalachian State University, and Northwest is the only other college show on the schedule. The tour encompasses two continents, three countries, six months, five supporting acts and 30 tour dates, culminating Feb. 10, 2018, in Atlanta.

Country-pop artist Haeley Vaughn, who appeared on Season 9 of “American Idol,” will appear as an opening act at Northwest.

SAC Concert Director Ali Stott said the organization selected Rice based on a “huge amount” of student interest, voiced through a survey last spring, and attendees can expect a fun atmosphere at the concert.

“Chase sells out the majority of his concerts and everyone has a great time attending them,” Stott said. “Northwest is fortunate enough to be a part of his new ‘Lambs & Lions Tour,’ which includes major cities such as Dallas, Denver and St. Louis. It is a big deal for Maryville to be part of something so big.”

Rice has established a loyal fan base through energetic live shows and an edgy, eclectic sound on the success of 2014’s “Ignite the Night,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The album produced a pair of top five hits with the Platinum-certified “Ready Set Roll” and Gold-certified “Gonna Wanna Tonight.”

Rice was nominated in 2016 as the Academy of Country Music’s New Male Vocalist of the Year and was a presenter during the live CBS national telecast of the 51st ACM Awards. In 2015, he earned a CMT Awards nomination for Breakthrough Video of the Year with “Gonna Wanna Tonight.”

A cast member of CBS’s “Survivor: Nicaragua” in 2010, Rice also earned a co-writing credit on Florida Georgia Line’s massive 2012 hit “Cruise,” which made history as the most-downloaded country single of all time and sold more than 10 million copies.

Rice’s other national TV appearances include “Good Morning America,” “Fox & Friends,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “Today.”

The 31-year-old has toured the world with four massive headlining tours and stadium-show opening runs for country megastars, including Kenny Chesney and Dierks Bentley. Rice’s latest single release last year, “Everybody We Know Does,” is a rowdy rocker he says takes him back in his mind to the Fairview, North Carolina, farm on which he was raised.
