Updated Bearcat license plates available to Missouri registrants

Northwest Missouri State University alumni and friends may now “ride with pride” by displaying a personalized Bearcat License plate on their vehicles.

Northwest Missouri State University alumni and friends may now “ride with pride” by displaying a personalized Bearcat license plate on their vehicles.

“Northwest alumni travel all over the United States, and with the Bearcat license plate our brand can stretch from east to west wherever and whenever,” Bob Machovsky, director of alumni relations and annual giving at the University, said.

Individuals may reserve their license plate by making a donation of $25 or more to the Northwest Fund and requesting a collegiate license plate form.

Registrants will receive an Emblem Use Authorization Statement from the Northwest Foundation to present to local license bureaus, along with a $15 fee due to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Personalization cannot exceed six characters in length.

“Alumni also really enjoy identifying and connecting with other alumni through the branding they’re either wearing or sporting on their vehicle,” Machovsky said. “It’s our hope that this will be a common license plate to see on the road throughout Missouri.”

Steps to update old Northwest personalized plates

Individuals who already have Northwest personalized plates also are encouraged to update to the new plates with the Bearcat paw logo by following these steps:

  • Complete Form 1576, which is accessible at
  • In the section titled “Replacement Plate Information,” write that you are requesting the updated configuration/logo for Northwest Missouri State University as the Missouri Department of Revenue has not updated its form for organizations with changed or updated logos.
  • Have Form 1576 notarized as indicated in the section titled “Notary Information.”
  • Take the completed and notarized Form 1576 to your local license office to process. The license office will issue a “replacement” permit to use on your vehicle until the replacement plates are manufactured.
  • Mail the completed Form 1576 to the Motor Vehicle Bureau with a check for the amount of $20.50 written to the Missouri Department of Revenue. The mailing address is provided on the form.

To make a donation and request a collegiate license plate form, visit, or contact the Northwest Alumni Association at or 660.562.1248.
