Free courses available to students enrolling at Northwest-Kansas City

Students who enroll in fall courses at Northwest Missouri State University-Kansas City may be eligible for a free course.

Students may receive one free three-credit hour class during the fall 2015 trimester if they apply for admission by Friday, Aug. 14, and meet the following criteria:

Online-only students are not eligible to receive a free class.

Beginning this fall, Northwest is offering completion programs for business, education, and parks and recreation degrees at Northwest-Kansas City. The programs are available to students who have completed at least 24 hours of transferable, college-level coursework and have a 2.00 cumulative college grade-point average.

Northwest-Kansas City is located on the campus of Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods at 2601 N.E. Barry Road in Kansas City, Mo.

With an enrollment of more than 6,700 students, Northwest is a coeducational, primarily residential four-year university that offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

Northwest is ranked as the top moderately selective regional university in Missouri on U.S. News and World Report’s list of “2015 Best Colleges” and is one of only four four-year institutions in Missouri to meet all measures of the state’s performance-based funding initiative during the past three years

The University, founded in 1905, boasts a 59 percent graduation rate, which is about 20 percent higher than the national average. In addition, 97 percent of Northwest bachelor’s degree earners and 99 percent of master’s degree earners secure employment or continue their education within six months of graduation, according to the most recent data. Additionally, textbooks and a laptop are included in Northwest tuition, which is among the lowest in the state, saving students an estimated $7,200 over four years.
