Northwest Missouri State University alumni and friends are invited to enjoy a fun-filled evening at the ballpark during the fifth annual Northwest Night at the St. Joseph Mustangs Saturday, June 20.
The baseball game featuring the St. Joseph Mustangs and the Sedalia Bombers begins at 7 p.m. at Phil Welch Stadium, 2600 SW Parkway in St. Joseph. Alumni and friends also are invited to a tailgate from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Northwest Alumni Association tent outside the stadium.
The event is sponsored by Northwest Missouri State University and the Northwest Alumni Association. Additional details are provided below.
The Northwest Alumni Association has 300 free tickets available to Northwest fans. Game tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of four tickets per person.
Additional game tickets will be available to purchase through the Northwest Alumni Association for a discounted price after all free tickets are redeemed.
Fans may reserve tickets by contacting the Office of Alumni Relations at 660.562.1248 or Brenda@nwmissouri.edu.
Tickets may be picked up before the game at the green Northwest Alumni Association tent at the tailgate.
Look for the Northwest Alumni Association tent outside of the stadium between 5 and 6:30 p.m. to join the Green and White pregame festivities. The tailgate will feature a meal catered by Hy-Vee, which will include the choice of a hot dog meal for $5 or a hamburger meal for $6; both meal options include chips, cookie and a drink.
Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and may do their own traditional tailgating prior to the game.
Free Bearcat pennants, courtesy of the Northwest Alumni Association, will be given to the first 500 fans to stop by the Alumni Association tent.
Fans also may enjoy fireworks at the stadium after the game.
Additionally, St. Joseph Mustangs players will wear green jerseys in support of Northwest during the game. Northwest Night annually ranks among the highest attended of the Mustangs’ season.
The St. Joseph Mustangs are members of the M.I.N.K. Baseball League, a summer collegiate baseball league that includes eight teams from Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. The team is managed by Matt Johnson, a 2004 Northwest alumnus. For more information about the St. Joseph Mustangs, visit www.stjoemustangs.com.
