An article authored by Northwest Missouri State University graduate students Mary Tapps and Jared Dowis was published in the February edition of Parks & Recreation magazine.
The article, titled “How Do I Overcome the Experience Requirement on a Job Application,” focuses on how recreation students can create a competitive advantage for themselves when applying for jobs. Internships, volunteer work and getting involved are some of the ways the authors discuss to build expertise in the recreation field.
Parks & Recreation is published by the National Recreation and Parks Association and has more than 6,000 subscribers. Tapps and Dowis completed the article under the advisement of Dr. Tyler Tapps, assistant professor of recreation at Northwest.
