High school students, families invited to Art Visit Day

Northwest Missouri State University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts will host an Art Visit Day Friday, Oct. 18. The event is designed for high school students from throughout the four-state region interested in preparing for a variety of art-related careers.

The day also will feature hands-on workshops for teachers and prospective students and a number of informative sessions, including a portfolio review session for students with the Northwest art faculty.

High school students and their families also will have a chance to visit with Northwest faculty and students majoring in art, while learning about careers in art and design and touring both University art studios and classrooms and the Northwest campus.

Northwest offers 10 art-related programs of study through the College of Arts and Sciences, along with six minors in the department.

The Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers students the opportunity to have access to state-of-the-art facilities and, upon graduation, join the many art students who have earned an extensive resume or success in a wide variety of fields. The art faculty are highly skilled professionals, with extensive experience in their respective fields of work.

The day’s activities begin at 9 a.m. in the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building, located on the south side of College Avenue (Fourth Street) across the street from Lamkin Activity Center, and includes a complimentary lunch at 11:30 a.m. The event concludes at 2:15 p.m. with optional campus tours afterward.
