Northwest Missouri State University crowned Riley Ziemer and Candace Boeh as its 2012 Homecoming king and queen Thursday, Nov. 1, during opening night of the University’s annual Homecoming Variety Show.
Ziemer is a senior business management and marketing major from Winchester, Kan. In addition to being the president of Northwest’s Student Senate, he is a new member educator for the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was co-chair of the Canned Art Homecoming Committee. He is a member of Blue Key honor society and Order of Omega Greek honor society. He was sponsored by Phi Delta Theta.
Boeh is a senior elementary education major with a special education emphasis from Lenexa, Kan. She is a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Order of Omega Greek honor society, Cardinal Key national honor society and Mortar Board national honor society. She was sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha.
Northwest students selected the king and queen during a week of online voting Oct. 22-26.
This year's Homecoming princess is Schia Rogers, who is 5 years old and attends Horace Mann Laboratory School. She is the daughter of Andy and Sara Rogers, who is a fourth grade instructor at Horace Mann. The Homecoming prince is Layne Ziegler, who is 6 years old and attends Eugene Field Elementary School. He is the son of Tom and Kim Ziegler, who is a graphic designer in the Office of University Relations.
The Variety Show ends its two-night run at 7 p.m. tonight in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are free and available at the Student Services Center or at the door.
Northwest continues its Homecoming week festivities, “Superheroes and Villains,” through Sunday, Nov. 4. Events are open to all Northwest students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, friends and community members. For a complete schedule of Homecoming 2012 activities and events, click here.
