Sept. 26, 2012
Northwest Missouri State University’s Office of Career Services is now accepting applications for the spring 2012 session of the Missouri Legislative Internship Program.
The internship program, which begins in early January and ends in mid-May, annually sends students to Jefferson City to gain valuable experience in the legislative process and an understanding of how Missouri is governed.
Each student is placed in the office of a state senator or state representative. Students track and craft legislation, conduct research, attend committee hearings and work sessions, assist with constituent issues and lead tours of the capitol.
Past interns have remained active in the halls of the capitol or gone on to successful careers in politics at all levels of government including public relations and law.
Four interns are selected based on grade-point average, interests and political views. Candidates must write an essay addressing why they should be placed in the program.
The application deadline for the Missouri Legislative Internship is Friday, Oct. 12. More information and an online application is available by clicking here.
For additional information, students may contact Career Services at email@example.com or 660.562.1250, or Dr. Michelle Wade, Assistant Professor of Political Science and co-director of the Missouri Legislative Internship Program, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
