The Northwest Tourin' Bearcats will travel next spring to Zurich, Switzerland, to Amsterdam, Holland during an eight-day, seven-night cruise. Trip highlights include sightseeing in Cologne and Koblenz, Germany, and Strasbourg, France; an excursion to Heidelberg, Germany; a canal cruise in Amsterdam, Holland and a cruise through the Rhine Gorge; a visit to the legendary Lorelei rock; a tour of Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum in Rüdesheim, Germany; and a stop at the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany.

Reservations accepted for Tourin' Bearcats' Rhine River Cruise

MARYVILLE, Mo. - An eight-day, seven-night cruise of the Rhine River from Zurich, Switzerland, to Amsterdam, Holland, is the next trip offered by Tourin' Bearcats, the travel program for Northwest Missouri State University alumni and friends.

The Northwest Alumni Association-sponsored trip, which is open to the public, is April 15-23, 2011. The cost is $2,995 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes roundtrip airfare from Kansas City.

Trip highlights include a welcome reception in Basel, Switzerland; guided sightseeing in Cologne and Koblenz, Germany, and Strasbourg, France; an excursion to Heidelberg, Germany; a canal cruise in Amsterdam, Holland and a cruise through the Rhine Gorge; a visit to the legendary Lorelei rock; a tour of Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum in Rüdesheim, Germany; a stop at the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany, and much more.

Travelers will board Avalon Waterways' Affinity ship, which accommodates 138 passengers and was built in 2009. The ship features wall-to-wall panoramic windows; Wi-Fi access; an English-speaking crew; onboard lectures, activities and nightly entertainment; a fitness center; room service; a whirlpool and more. All onboard meals are included as well as complimentary champagne with breakfast and beer, wine and soft drinks at dinner.

"The Tourin' Bearcats travel program provides an excellent opportunity for you to connect with other Bearcats and friends to enjoy experiences and create memories in some exciting destinations. For instance, the 'Romantic Rhine River Cruise' visits the countries of Switzerland, France, Germany and Holland and all the beautiful port cities along the way," said Steve Sutton, Northwest's director of alumni relations. "The gorgeous scenery, the history of the area and the first-class operations of Avalon Waterways promises to provide travelers with memories of a lifetime."

Recent Tourin' Bearcats destinations include Alaska, Hawaii and Colorado, and a sold-out trip to San Antonio is set for October.

Reservations, with a $250 deposit, are due Nov. 9, and final payment is due by Jan. 10, 2011. Early registration is encouraged due to very limited space availability. Checks should be made out to Cotter Travel and mailed to Northwest Missouri State University, Alumni House, 800 University Dr., Maryville, MO 64468.
