International Student Teaching

What is International Student Teaching?

International Student teaching is a continuation of the domestic student teaching experience which provides students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice this time in an international setting.

Students are placed in cooperating schools where Northwest has established agreements. At all locations, instruction is conducted in English and students are assigned a cooperating teacher and an on-site supervisor.

Open to all Education majors who are in good academic standing and who have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in accordance with all of our Study Abroad Programs. Students must be first approved by the Professional Education Unit to Student Teach both locally and abroad.

Students who are self-reliant, flexible and who have a strong desire to learn about different cultures should apply for this program.

When can I participate in an International Student Teach Program?

The student teaching abroad program must be conducted at the same time that the student is eligible to student teach at Northwest in the following format:

12 weeks: Domestic
4 weeks: Abroad
