Grad students and students over 21 years of age are not required to live on campus, but may choose to do so. There is plenty of space. IF you choose to live on campus. please complete the online housing form accessed through your CatPAWS account and a credit card or mail the included housing form along with a cashiers check or international money order so that we can have your room ready by the time you arrive at Northwest.
If you are above 21 or a graduate student, you can live off-campus. If you want to live off-campus, we will have student assistants helping you with your first night's accommodation on arrival day (see your I-20 for this date) and then we will look for apartments the following day. Please do not buy any Health Insurance in your home country. All international students are required to buy the insurance provided by Northwest Missouri State University. To learn more about our International Health Insurance Plan click here.
Students need to document 2 doses of MMR & 1 dose of Meningitis vaccination and bring proof of immunizations (signed by your doctor). You will be given them here if you do not have them when you arrive. The cost is roughly $190 for MMR and $175 for the Meningitis.

All new international students must attend the International Student Orientation ($50 fee applied to university bill). Orientation begins promptly at 7:30 AM in the International Involvement Center (IIC) on the day after the arrival date specified in Item 5 on your I-20. IIC is located in J. W. Jones Union (Campus Map).
Please bring your I-20, acceptance letter, passport, Visa, I-94, and immunization records when you come for Orientation in the International Involvement Center.
Pay by check or bank draft in US dollars, made payable to Northwest Missouri State University. You can also pay online by webcheck which is an electronic debit to your US checking or savings account.
Northwest accepts MasterCard, VISA, Discover, and American Express online only. A 2.85% convenience fee will be added to the payment amount.
Smaller payment amounts can be made in the Office of Student Account Services using a debit card with a PIN.
