Important Open Enrollment Information

The Open Enrollment period for 2023 benefit plans begins Tuesday, Nov. 1 and ends at 5 pm on Friday, Nov. 18.

Northwest Missouri State University is an exceptional university because of the dedication of our faculty and staff who work hard to fulfill our mission of focusing on student success—every student, every day. We understand the contribution each employee makes to our success, and so our goal is to provide a comprehensive program of competitive benefits to attract and retain the best employees available. Through our benefits programs we strive to support the needs of our employees and their dependents by providing a benefit package that is easy to understand, easy to access and affordable for all our employees.

Our new benefit consultant, USI, negotiated a 4.9% increase to health insurance rates for 2023. The Northwest Leadership Team (NLT) approved the University to absorb the 4.9% increase, and there will be no change to employee-only rates for 2023. Additionally, NLT approved a 10% decrease to health insurance rates for our employee + spouse, employee + child(ren), family and two Northwest employee family plans.

The changes to our health insurance represent a commitment to employees that we are listening to their concerns while addressing long-term strategy for reducing claims cost. In addition to these changes, in 2023, we will be working to implement a new wellness program for employees that will include an annual primary care physician preventive visit with labs. More information about this program will be coming in early 2023.
