Student Employment

Career Pathing Information:
Staff may register for Career Pathing opportunities on the Human Resources website at the following link:  http://www.nwmissouri.edu/hr/trainingopps.htm

The Student Employment Online Orientation has been moved to Northwest Online/Canvas. In order for a new student employee to complete the training we will need to add them to the system. We have identified students, by their start date of January 1 or later, whom we believe need to complete the orientation. We will be inviting them to participate in an online course called “Student Employment Orientation”. They will receive an email inviting them to the course today. They will then have the capability to complete the online modules. Please check with your new hires to make sure they have received the invitation and encourage them to complete the orientation within the next three business days. In order for the course to be “completed” the students grade should reflect 100%. Students should be compensated for their time to complete the training modules. If your student employee did not receive the email invitation and the course is not available in their Northwest Online page by tomorrow morning and they need to complete it, please contact us and we will add them to the course. Some of these students who will receive the email may have already completed the training. If this is the case please notify us by sending an email with their name so we can remove them from the course. In the future new student employees will automatically be added to the system upon completion of their employment authorization paperwork. Below and attached are directions for completion of the orientation that you may share with your new hires. We appreciate your assistance with this matter and your patience as we worked to move the orientation to a new platform. If you have any questions, please call Student Employment in the Office of Human Resources at (660) 562-1140.

Directions to Northwest’s Student Employment Orientation Online:

  1. Go to the Northwest homepage – www.nwmissouri.edu/login/.
  2. Select “Northwest Online” and login.
  3. Under “Courses” select “Student Employment Orientation”.
  4. Next, complete all modules listed below. There are two parts to each module:  first, the information about the topic and second, an activity. The activity must be successfully completed with a score of 100%  to confirm your knowledge of the topic. The score will be recorded and will confirm completion of the orientation. Please record your time on your timesheet for the completion of all modules.

In an effort to improve the student employment experience, supervisors will now be expected to contact the Office of Human Resources any time a student employee resigns from their position, for any reason other than graduation. We will be contacting those students for an invitation to participate in an exit interview. You will need to email me directly their name, 919 and position. We appreciate your support in assisting us with opportunities for improvement.

Contact Student Employment with any questions at 660.562.1140 or contact Paula McLain at pmclain@nwmissouri.edu.

  • Waiving all member cost sharing and copayments for in-patient hospital admissions due to the diagnosis of COVID-19 for Commercial plans. Applicable cost share applies, under plan provisions of each policy, for ACA Individual and Family plans.
  • Prior authorizations will be waived for diagnostic tests and for outpatient covered services that are medically necessary and consistent with CDC guidance if diagnosed with COVID-19.
