Interest and Activities

I strive to introduce children to good quality literature. I love to read and surround myself with books. I try to carry this passion over into my classroom and allow ample opportunities for the children to read, be read to and to engage with books. I also enjoy a passion for running which started when I was a child. I enjoy being outside with the children whether it’s is exploring our outdoor space or helping the children understand the importance of staying healthy through food and exercise. When with my family we love traveling together, cooking and spending time with our pets.

Other Professional Experience

  • Instructor for Administration of Childcare Programs, Northwest Missouri State University, 2002-2006 and Spring 2013.
  • Had the opportunity to be trained in Dr. Becky Bailey’s Conscious Discipline program through Martin County of Florida Early Learning Coalition.
  • Held a Director’s position for Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Programs.
  • Missouri’s Winning Teams and HeadsUp! Reading Facilitator in 2002-2004.

Favorite Things About Teaching

In teaching I love seeing the children so excited about the world around them. I enjoy helping them follow their own curiosity and encourage them to question everything!  It is a wonderful feeling being a part of their growth and development. I want to be an important part of making their environment safe, stable, and nurturing.

Goals for the Year

To work with our team to make the first year in the new Leet Center a positive and rewarding one for children and families.

Year Arrived at the University

I taught Pre-Kindergarten at Northwest Missouri State University’s Lab School from 1999-2006.  I am happy to have returned last year and just begun my second year as a Pre-School Teacher at the newly structured Leet Center for Children and Families.
