Alternative Spring Break 2017

Alternative Spring Break 2017

Families who were affected by the flood lost everything and had to adjust to what would be their new normal. This new normal included having to rebuild, live in shelters and hotels and not having any personal space. FEMA spent $200 Million to assist people, especially those who did not have flood insurance.

To make this transition easier, Alternative Spring Break went to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for their break. 28 members of the Northwest family worked with Community Collaborations International. They worked in efforts to relieve the families in Baton Rouge from the devastation of the flood from Fall 2016. The volunteers efforts included painting / hanging drywall for All hands, distributing and stocking food at the food distribution center, mentoring children of the Boys and Girls club and following up with working in the environment on nature trails.

Thank you to the 28 individuals who helped make the victim's new normal a little easier to reach.
