Academic Interests

Feixue Mei is an interdisciplinary artist and an Assistant Professor at Northwest Missouri State University. She is fascinated by mass media and internet culture. Her work explores diverse media such as publications, videos, performances, illustrations, comics, and installations, and examines how they may be used to address such context as globalization, cultural manipulation, language adaptation, intimate relation, as well as fluid identity.

Scholarly Activity

Mei’s creative practice and research have been recognized by the Popular/ American Culture Association Conference; Southwest Popular/American Culture Association Conference; Printed Matter Virtual Art Book Fair; LA Art Book Fair; abC Art Book Fair in Beijing; International Design Award (IDA), COW illustration festival in Ukraine; Video Snack Festival and Missouri Art Now, a traveling exhibition including 5 galleries.

Mei has exhibited at Grace Street Theatre, The Anderson, Pump House, FAB Gallery and Cherry Gallery in Richmond, Virginia; D’Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia; Auburn University in Alabama; SVA Theatre in New York; 5&J Gallery in Lubbock, Texas and Studio Channel Islands in Camarillo, California.
