Private Scholarships

First-time Freshmen and Transfers: Most major-specific scholarships can be applied for by completing the Standard Scholarship Application in CatPAWS.

The following scholarships are made available by funds from private donors and are awarded based upon a variety of criteria as designated by the donors. Students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be considered. A separate application may be required. 


Letters after the scholarship name indicate who may apply for the award:

Leon Bradley Scholarship [C]

The Leon Bradley Scholarship Program is established to encourage more minorities or persons of color to enter the teaching profession.  The American Association of School Personnel Administrators believes that it is of benefit for all students to experience diversity among the teachers who serve as role models for our students. Thus, the AASPA will annually award two scholarships to assist a minority college student seeking their initial teaching certification and/or endorsement.

Albert R. Hagan Award in Agricultural Economics [G]

The purpose of the Albert R. Hagan Award is to recognize high achieving first year candidates for a Master's or PhD degree in Agricultural Economics or related field such as Agri-Business or Farm Management. Up to Three (3) Awards may be made each year. Each university shall be limited to One (1) Award in any academic year.

International Trade Council of Kansas City [C][G]

The ITC is the leading professional organization in Greater Kansas City dedicated to the furthering of international trade in the Missouri Valley. The members of ITC represent the area's leading international manufacturing, financial, and service organizations involved in international commerce. There will be one scholarship offered in the amount of $1,000 to be awarded to a qualified junior / senior or graduate student of colleges or universities located within a 150 mile radius of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.
