Candidate Forum, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences: Dr. Sharon Everhardt

Northwest has scheduled forums with three candidates who are finalists to be the institution’s next dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The dean of the College of Arts and Sciences serves as the College’s chief academic and administrative officer. The person is charged with ensuring the College’s academic programs, research, faculty development and student outcomes are of the highest quality while strategically allocating resources to advance the College’s mission. The dean leads and collaborates with others on student enrollment, retention, graduation, assessment and accreditations. The dean also serves as the chief external representative of the College to the broader community, including donors and alumni.

The open forums with each candidate are scheduled from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. in Room 117 of the Valk Center and offered via Zoom. All Northwest employees are invited to attend.

About Dr. Sharon Everhardt has served for the past year as associate dean of administration at Troy University in Alabama, where she also is an associate professor of sociology in its College of Arts and Sciences and has served as interim chair of the Department of Political Science; chair of the Department of Anthropology, Sociology and Criminology; and interim chair of the Department of Social Sciences. She also has held faculty roles at Owens Community College in Ohio, Lourdes University in Ohio and Delta College in Michigan.

She has a Ph.D. in sociology from Wayne State University in Michigan and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in sociology from the University of Toledo.
