Teacher Candidates

Your University Supervisor

NOTE: Tk20 users must use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari as their internet browser. They must not use Internet Explorer.

University supervisors are your first destination for questions about the student teaching experience.  According to survey results from teacher candidates in the fall 2015 and spring 2016 trimesters, our supervisors do a terrific job.  Teacher candidates answered the following (n=134)

  • 94% said their university supervisor provided them with adequate support through the student teaching experience
  • 97% said they were provided with the opportunity to confer with their university supervisor
  • 95% said their university supervisor was fair and unbiased during conferences assessing their performance

MoPTA

NOTE: Tk20 users must use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari as their internet browser. They must not use Internet Explorer.

All teacher candidates must complete the MoPTA performance assessment. Information about this assessment, including registration, instructions and deadlines can be found at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/education/peu/mega/mopta.htm »

PDP

The Professional Development Plan (PDP) is a required part of your MoPTA and the only part which must be uploaded to Tk20.  All other parts of the MoPTA must be uploaded to an ETS website.  Please complete and upload your PDP during your student teaching experience before your MoPTA task 4 is submitted.  Here are instructions on what the PDP is and how to complete it and upload it to Tk20:

Please print and complete this Professional Development Plan View Word Document gather all needed signatures (teacher candidate, university supervisor (listed as EPP supervisor) and cooperating teacher), scan the signed copy, and upload it to the student teaching portfolio in Tk20.

Teacher Candidate Grades

NOTE: Tk20 users must use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari as their internet browser. They must not use Internet Explorer.

University Supervisors assign grades to each teacher candidate. To do so, they follow some guidelines put forth in the following guide

Submit By Mistake?

NOTE: Tk20 users must use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari as their internet browser. They must not use Internet Explorer.

A common error in Tk20 is to submit something (typically a field experience binder) before all of the contents are completed.  To avoid this, a golden rule of tk20 is to “Save” often and “Submit” once when you are sure all work is completed.

If you have submitted before all items are uploaded you still may be able to recall your work.  Next to the name of your binder should be a small, white checkbox.  Click in that checkbox next to the name of the binder you submitted by mistake.  Above this should be a small button titled “recall”.  Click this.

If the above instructions do not unlock your binder you can still recall the binder.  Just email Mike McBride at mam77@nwmissouri.edu and copy your university supervisor.

Submitting Late MEES Summative Results

All summative forms in Tk20 must be completed entirely by all university supervisors or cooperating teachers in placements 12 weeks or longer.  If a supervisor or cooperating teacher needs to complete a summative form from a previous semester, they can follow instructions below:

Updates and Clarifications

  • If university supervisors need to submit a field experience binder that doesn’t have all of its forms completed (which may happen because of the “optional” formative that DESE has included), they will need to go into the form that’s not completed, click “N/A” on the first item and save the form.  Then, they will be able to submit the entire binder.
  • Whenever university supervisors save a form, rubric or anything in a field experience binder or portfolio, their teacher candidate will see the results.  In other words, these teacher candidates will see results before they are officially “submitted”.
