Getting Connected to Northwest Secure Wireless (Wi-Fi)

To connect to the Northwest secure wireless (Wi-Fi) network with a Windows 8 tablet or notebook computer, do the following:

  • Swipe the screen with your finger to get the toolbar with the Settings icon (charm) (toolbar is typically located on the right side of the screen). 
    • You can also use a mouse to select the toolbar.
  • Select the Settings icon (charm).
  • Select the Wi-Fi icon.
  • Select NWMSU_Secure.
  • Select Connect.
  • Enter your Northwest Network Account username and password.
    • Your username is the beginning portion of your Northwest email address, which is everything to the left of  Student usernames are an S followed by 6 digits.
    • If you can't join the network, your password is typically the problem.
      • Either you typed it incorrectly or it is expired and needs to be changed prior to Wi-Fi setup.
      • If your password needs to be changed prior to Wi-Fi setup, see instructions for the Northwest Network Account.
  • Select OK.
  • A warning that Windows can't verify the server's identity will be displayed.
  • Select Connect.
