Getting Connected to Northwest Secure Wireless
Non-Campus issued laptop - Windows 7
Connecting to Northwest’s Secure wireless network with your personal computer should be fast and easy if you follow these instructions. To connect your personally-owned computer (with Windows 7 OS) to Northwest’s secure wireless network (NWMSU_Secure), please do the following:
- Click on the wireless network icon.
- Usually the wireless network icon can be found as an image in the lower left corner of your computer screen near the clock.
- A list of available wireless networks will appear.

- Click on Open Network and Sharing Center.

- Click on Manage Wireless networks.
- Click Add.

- The Manually connect to a wireless network window appears.
- Click on Manually create a network profile.

- The Enter information for the wireless network you want to add window appears.
- In the Network Name field, type NWMSU_Secure.
- In the Security type field, select WPA2-Enterprise.
- In the Encryption type, select AES.

- Click the Next button.
- Click on Change connection settings.

- The NWMSU Secure Wireless Network Properties window will appear.
- Click the Security tab.

- On Security type, select WPA2-Enterprise (if not already selected).
- On Encryption type, select AES (if not already selected).
- Beneath Choose a network authentication method:, select Protected EAP (PEAP).
- Click the Settings button.
- The Protected EAP Properties window will appear.

- UncheckValidate server certificate.
- Click the Configure button.
- The EAP MsCHAPv2 Properties window will appear.

- UncheckAutomatically use my windows logon name and password (and domain if any).
- Click the OK button.
- Click OK on all other open windows that may appear to save the settings.
- TheAdditional information is required to connect to NWMSU_Secure balloon (pop-up) will appear.

- Click on the text Additional Information is required to connect to NWMSU_Securewithin the balloon (pop-up).
- The Windows Security “Network Authentication” dialog box will open.
- Enter your Northwest Network Account username in the Username textbox and your current Northwest Network Account password in the Password textbox.

- You should now be on the NWMSU_Secure wireless network.
- If not, double-check to make sure your Northwest Network Account password is not expired. If your password is not expired, remove the NWMSU_Secure network from your wireless connection list and recreate it again manually using the above instructions.
