About

Arnold J. (Arne) Johnson is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Noble Energy, Inc., overseeing the company'’'s Corporate Affairs including the legal, compliance, security and communications and government relations functions. He joined Noble in January 2001 as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, was elected Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary in 2004, and to his current position in 2008. Johnson began his career at Atlantic Richfield Company in 1980, serving in positions of increasing responsibility there and at its domestic subsidiary, Vastar Resources, Inc., until they were acquired by BP in 2000. He was Senior Counsel at BP America, Inc. immediately prior to joining Noble.

Johnson also serves as chair of the Creighton University School of Law alumni advisory board; as president of the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston; and on the board of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. He has held leadership roles in a number of other professional organizations, including on the board of the Institute for Energy Law as well as chair of the Louisiana Mineral Law Institute; the Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas; and the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section of the Houston Bar Association.

In 2013, Johnson was named "Best General Counsel of a Large Legal Department" by Houston Business Journal. He is a member of the Texas, Colorado and Nebraska bar associations, and has authored and presented various articles on ethics and legal topics involving the oil and gas industry.

Johnson grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa. His wife Mary Le is an architect.
