About

After graduation from Medical Technology school, Myra started her chosen career at St. Joseph Hospital, later Heartland Health. She then became a Laboratory Manager at Atchison Hospital (Kansas) later becoming a Vice President after completing my MBA through Northwest. She relocated back to the family farm near Tarkio in 2000 to become the CEO at Community Hospital in Fairfax, MO. A couple of highlights were: leading Community Hospital to build a new hospital that opened in 2010 and serving as Chairman of the Board of Missouri Hospital Association (the first from a small Critical Access Hospital).

She has enjoyed volunteering with various organizations through the years. She served on the Chamber Board in Atchison, KS; served as a board member and on the hotline for the domestic violence organization in Atchison County, MO; participated in various events with her church family; and enjoyed being with family and friends on the infield at the Kansas Speedway for many seasons.

After retiring from Fairfax in 2014, Myra served as an interim CEO for three hospitals. Now she enjoys being fully retired and enjoys life on the farm with her husband, Kim, (2006 Northwest grad) and two Labrador Retrievers.

Why are you "forever green"?

My sister and I were first generation graduates from Northwest Missouri State University. I worked hard at Northwest to succeed in getting an education so I could support myself. I participated in the Pre-Med Club during the years, but knew extra activities could be a distraction for me. Northwest provided a great atmosphere for me to learn and for me to succeed. My husband and I are “forever green” because we want other young persons to have the ability to get a great education at Northwest -- thus we support the scholarship campaign. We are proud that Northwest finds so many ways to help students be successful.
