Transfer and Returning New Student Orientation and Registration

As a new student, we would like to welcome you to the Northwest family. We are glad you have chosen to continue your education at Northwest Missouri State University! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Northwest is moving transfer and returning new student orientation and registration to a summer-long online orientation. We also intend to offer an in-person orientation for students and families who wish to attend SOAR on campus.

Orientation Format

Orientation will be happening in two parts: summer-long online and in-person

The summer-long online orientation consists of:

  • Weekly Spotlight and Facebook Live sessions to address topics such as financial assistance, first-generation students, the Student Success Center and profession-based learning experiences, to name a few
  • Weekly Ask Anything sessions with representatives from various campus offices so you can get all of your questions answered
  • Transfer Friday sessions on ZOOM
  • Instagram takeovers @nworientation

The on-campus orientation consists of:

  • Become more familiar with campus resources and services
  • Meet with an academic advisor
  • Enroll in classes

*Don’t worry, you can still participate in the Summer Online Orientation series if you choose to attend an on-campus orientation options!

  • Programming tracks for students and parent/family members
  • Meeting with your academic advisor in person
  • Visiting campus and completing outstanding items
  • Interacting with a faculty member from your academic area
