Culture of Champions

Northwest students are the winners of 41 national championships since 2009 across all academic and athletic teams to include forensics (17), cheerleading (3), football (4), men's basketball (1), radio broadcasting (2), agricultural sciences (1), business education (1) and wrestling club (1).

During the 2016-17 academic year, Northwest captured the football and men's basketball national championships. This marks the first time in NCAA Division II history that an institution has captured both in the same year. Florida (2006-07) and Oklahoma State (1945-46) have accomplished this feat in Division I.

Northwest athletics consists of six men's sports and eight women's sports including:

Recreational Activities

In addition to competitive sports, students can utilize the Robert and Virginia Foster Fitness Center and the Students Recreation Center. The rec center is designed to provide recreational sports and activities to provide healthy lifestyles.

The Foster Fitness Center consists of 19,490 square-feet of open floor space accommodating state-of-the-art cardio and weight lifting machines, a human performance lab and classroom space.
