Honors Experiences

Honors Students get the opportunity to complete their honors credential by engaging in three honors experiences from among the following - choosing at least one in each of the two categories listed below.  For more detailed information, please refer to our Honors Program Guidelines.   

Service/Leadership Category includes: 

  • Alternative spring break opportunities sponsored by a faculty member

  • Lead Green sponsored by Exemplary Leadership Academy through the office of Student Involvement

  • Community service and/or service learning (20 hours) in one academic year

  • Study abroad trip

  • Other student ideas as approved by the Honors Advisory Committee

Personal/Academic Growth Category includes: 

  • Presentation of original creative work (not at Northwest)

  • Publication of original work

  • Participation in colloquia that includes:

    • lecture series

    • creative and performing arts

    • diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Participation in a professional internship related to a possible career

  • Independent research project mentored by a professor

  • Other student ideas as approved by the Honors Advisory Committee
