CSTV to webcast Bearcats basketball game vs. Pitt State

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Saturday’s MIAA men’s basketball contest between Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State can be seen on the CSTV/Division II Web site via broadband. Game time from Pittsburg, Kan., is 3:30 p.m.

The two teams split four games against each other last year but Northwest had the last laugh after eliminating the Gorillas from the NCAA postseason tournament. Both teams defended their home courts during the regular season. Pittsburg State knocked the Bearcats out of the MIAA tournament in Kansas City.

Both teams have reached the 10-win plateau this season and needed less than 13 games to do so. Both are 2-2 in league play and host first-place, 3-1 teams Wednesday. Pittsburg State (11-2) takes on Southwest Baptist, while Northwest (10-3) welcomes Missouri Southern.

The Gorillas are ranked 14th in the latest NABC poll while the Bearcats are 16th. Both teams lost Saturday and await their fate in the newest poll released Tuesday. No other MIAA teams are currently ranked.

Northwest is led by junior forward and reigning MIAA Player of the Year Hunter Henry, who averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds against the Gorillas a year ago. He’s averaging a team-best 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds thru 13 games this season.

Pittsburg State senior center Cory Abercrombie currently leads the MIAA in rebounding and ranks second in scoring. He’s averaging 19.8 points and 9.8 rebounds while shooting a league-best 62.9 percent from the floor. Abercrombie posted two double-doubles against the Bearcats in four games last season.
