Brittany Cash Jared Erspamer
Northwest senior linebacker Jared Erspamer and senior defender Brittany Cash have been named Northwest Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the period ended Oct. 28.
Erspamer had a team-high 13 tackles in Northwest's homecoming victory against Washburn and was the recipient of the Don Black Award, given to the game's Most Valuable Player. Five of his stops were behind the line of scrimmage. He also made a tackle on the punt team for a 3-yard loss.
Erspamer is the 10th defensive player in 36 games to receive the Don Black Award dating back to 1972.
Cash has been one of the top defenders for a soccer team that recorded three shutouts in its final five games. Cash helped limit Missouri Western to one shot-on-goal during the Bearcats 1-0 win in their season finale Saturday in St. Joseph. Central Missouri managed three shots-on-goal against Northwest one day prior.
Cash played all 90 minutes of each contest last week and logged the second-most minutes during the 2007 season. Cash was one of four Bearcats who started all 18 games.
