Lisa Phillips, who lives and grew up in Weston, is in her fourth year on the Northwest faculty and works as an instructor in the Department of Marketing and Management. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and teaches courses in marketing management, consumer behavior and principles of marketing.

What was the most interesting or oddest job you've ever held?

Growing up in Weston, my three brothers and I all spent a share of our summers working in the tobacco fields. I set (planted) tobacco, which is mostly a mind-numbing job. Needless to say, I never had the desire to smoke.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I am terrified of clowns. I saw the movie "Poltergeist" when I was young, and I never quite got over the clown scene. My friends and family like to play jokes on me now as a result, and, with the publication of this, I can only imagine it might get worse.

What was your first or favorite pet?

My first and only pet is my pet dachshund, Bailey. He has no idea he is a dog, and he is the pack leader in my home.

What was your proudest moment?

Being with my parents on their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer.

What is your dream vacation or getaway?

Hawaii!

What family traditions do you have?

The Turkey Bowl. Every Thanksgiving, my three brothers and I, along with other family members who are willing, participate in the annual Turkey Bowl, which consists of an embarrassing football game in the host's back yard before dinner.

What skill or talent do you wish you had, and why?

Singing. Then people wouldn't be telling me to stop all the time since I like to do it.

If you had to eat at one restaurant every day for the rest of your life, which would you pick?

The Malay Café on Barry Road. I have to eat there at least a couple of times a month. It would be hard giving up pizza, but I think this would be a healthier alternative.

What is one thing you wish you could do but are afraid to?

Taking the space shuttle to the moon.

What is your favorite moment of the past year at Northwest?

Watching students I had my first year here graduate. That was something special.

If you were going to write a book, what would it be about?

Growing up with three older brothers.
