Building alarm and parking advisories issued
T
he following advisories have been issued by either Health and Safety Manager Scott Walk or the Office of Campus Safety:
- Due to due maintenance of the Simplex fire alarm system, Campus Safety will not receive alarms through the network between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 6). Alarms will function normally in individual buildings, but the network will be down during that time. In the event of an alarm, evacuate the building and contact Campus Safety to inform them of the situation.
- This spring, Northwest plans to resurface University Drive between 4th Street at the main entrance to campus from the south and 9th Street near the Administration Building. Weather permitting, the project should only take a few days, but access will be limited to some parking lots. Campus Safety will issue additional notifications to the University community with regard to work dates and rerouting of traffic.
- In general, Campus Safety asks that everyone remember that summer is a busy time on campus when parking remains at a premium.
Parking regulations remain in place during the summer trimester and are enforced by Campus Safety officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All visitors, students, faculty and staff must have some form of parking registration.
Proper parking registration is important for many reasons. If, for example, a vehicle needs to be moved, the registration tag number allows Campus Safety to contact the vehicle owner.
Event and camp coordinators are responsible for making sure that their guests’ vehicles are properly registered. Visitor parking passes are available free of charge, but, when possible, permit requests should be made at least two weeks in advance.
Parking brochures have been sent to camp coordinators, who are urged to pass this information on to their staffs.
Anyone with questions about parking should call Campus Safety’s Monica McCollough at 660.562.1254 (ext. 1254 on campus) or e-mail mkahman@nwmissouri.edu.
