Surveys show that, as a group, Northwest students living on campus, from freshmen to seniors, express very high levels of satisfaction with regard to both their physical environment and the many programs offered through the Office of Residential Life.
First-year students, especially, will discover a variety of in-hall services designed to assist in their transition to campus living. Resident Assistants -- or RAs -- are assigned to each floor and work to provide social events and educational programs that add to and enhance classroom learning. RAs are also trained to answer questions, help solve problems and otherwise help ensure student success.
Other student resource personnel for freshman include PERTs (Peer Educators in Residence for Technology), who can assist with any computing problems, and ARCHes (Academic Resource Consultant in Hall), who are available to help with academic issues.
New for fall 2007 are BRIDGE specialists (Building Relationships and Integrating Diverse Growth Experiences), who live in each hall and help provide experiences in diversity and multicultural development.
Together, these student staff members provide a full range of educational and social programs designed to help hall residents adjust to their new learning and living environment.
Upperclass Housing
Northwest’s upperclass residential facilities provide housing for sophomores, juniors and some seniors and graduate students.
Housing options include both suite and pod configurations, with suites providing private living and bathroom areas. Pods offer bathrooms shared by small number of rooms, and select quarters are available in a loft design with private baths and living rooms.
Forest Village Apartments, while available to all upperclassmen and graduate students, is designed primarily for seniors preparing themselves for life after graduation. Each apartment has a private bedroom for each resident and a private bath. Units also contain a full kitchen and laundry facilities.
Whether students are beginning their first trimester or finishing their final days before graduation, they will find that all of Northwest’s residential facilities conform to high standards of comfort and convenience while offering services and resources that enhance personal development in a well-planned, out-of-classroom learning environment.
