Staff members of Northwest's B.D. Owens Library hosted the seventh annual Brick and Click Libraries Symposium Friday, Nov. 2.
About 150 library professionals from 22 states and 76 institutions attended the conference, which included a number of peer-reviewed presentations by Owens personnel.
Information Librarian Carolyn Johnson and Kathy Ferguson, electronic serials specialist, co-chaired the symposium. The proceedings, "Brick and Click Libraries: An Academic Library Symposium," were co-edited by Connie Ury, library outreach coordinator; Frank Baudino, head librarian for information services; and Reference Librarian Sarah Park.
Lori Mardis, information librarian/depository coordinator; Lisa Jennings, acquisitions specialist; Ferguson; and Sara Duff, technical services coordinator, presented a session titled "Keeping on Track." The program showcased electronic tracking methods used to organize workflow, prioritize tasks, set standards, reduce workload, analyze data, facilitate information sharing across library teams and identify inconsistencies.
Ury presented a paper titled "Looking at the Whole Pie and One Piece at a Time: Measuring Our Instructional Delivery," which highlighted Northwest's historical summary of student/faculty library instruction assessment data. The data is used to improve instructional content and delivery modes.
