Phi Delta Theta fraternity honored for excellence
The Northwest chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity has received the following awards from the Greek-letter organization's international office:
- Gold Star Award -- Phi Delta Theta bestows this distinction on top collegiate chapters for overall excellence. Eligibility criteria include superior scholarship, chapter management, alumni relations, fraternity life and recommendations from senior-level Phi Delta Theta officers and university administrators.
The Gold Star is presented to fewer than 10 percent of all Phi Delta Theta chapters and was the Northwest chapter's first such award.
- Scholarship Award -- This award is given to Phi Delta Theta chapters that rank first among social fraternities at their respective colleges and universities. The Northwest chapter has received the award for four consecutive years.
- Community Service -- This award honors chapters that actively partake in community service projects, both on and off campus, and devote significant amounts of time and energy to such projects throughout the academic year.
- The Hayward S. Biggars Ritual Award -- The Biggars Award recognizes chapters that demonstrate a strong knowledge of ritual and a commitment to its regular practice. Northwest Phi Delta Thetas have earned the Biggars Award in each of the last two years.
