Celebrating black achievement
Harlem Gospel Choir, noted psychologist
highlight annual focus on African Americans

   The theme for this year’s Black Achievement Month celebration at Northwest is “Envisioning the Future by Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.” The annual series of lectures, presentations, films and concerts is sponsored by the University’s Office of Minority Affairs.
  
Highlights of this year’s celebration include a banquet at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom featuring Dr. William C. Parker, retired vice chancellor for Minority Affairs at the University of Kentucky. Then, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in the Performing Arts Center, there will be a performance by the renowned Harlem Gospel Choir (pictured above). MORE

Hastings College taps Boerigter for Hall of Fameboerigter at arrowhead

   Northwest Athletic Director Dr. Bob Boerigter will be inducted into the Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday, Feb. 2. He served as the Broncos' athletic director, chair of the physical education department and professor of physical education from 1988 to 2001. MORE

Rally planned to celebrate
2007 football season

    The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats football team invites the public to a celebration of its 2007 season on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Bearcat Arena.
   There will be an autograph session from 4-5:30 p.m. A highlight film, team awards ceremony and recognition of seniors will follow. Admission is free. MORE
