Dr. Mark Corson, associate professor of geography and a senior officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, has received a promotion order elevating him to the rank of brigadier general effective March 20.
As a colonel, Corson served as commander (Troop Program Unit) of the 561st Regional Support Group headquartered in Omaha, Neb. He has been reassigned as commander (Troop Program Unit) of the 94th Training Division (Force Sustainment) based in Fort Lee, Va.
The 94th provides military occupational specialty training in four career management fields: transportation, quartermaster (such functions as supply and food service), ordnance and personnel services. Corson’s command consists of 2,500 military faculty and staff charged with teaching and training approximately 25,000 soldiers.
The division will host a promotion ceremony for Corson in Fort Lee on Saturday, April 18.
