Michelle Nance, instructor of accounting, economics and finance, has received the Region 5 Teaching Excellence Award from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
Nance accepted the award this summer at the ACBSP's annual conference in Orlando, Fla, where she was presented with a medallion and a check for $1,000.
ACBSP established its Teaching Excellence program to underscore "the significance of the classroom teacher" and to "recognize individuals who exemplify excellence in teaching."
"Michelle has always gone the extra mile to help our students," said Dr. Tom Billesbach, dean of Northwest's Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth College of Business and Professional Studies. "We are fortunate to have someone like her who combines significant industry experience with a passion for teaching."
Nance joined the Northwest faculty in 2004. Before beginning her career as an educator, she worked as an accountant for six years at a CPA firm in Tarkio. She currently teaches Accounting I and Accounting II.
An international accrediting organization for schools offering associate, baccalaureate and graduate degrees, ACBSP works to promote continuous quality improvement practices at more than 400 member institutions. Region 5 comprises Missouri; Kansas; Nebraska; Iowa; South Dakota; North Dakota; and Manitoba, Canada.
