
Dr. Mark Corson
Dr. Mark Corson, associate professor of geography and a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, graduated this summer from the U.S. Army War College with a master's degree in strategic studies. The two-year distance education course with two two-week residencies is a required qualification for promotion in rank to general officer.
Located at the historic Carlisle Barracks in Carlisle, Penn., The United States Army War College is the Army's most senior military educational institution. Approximately 600 students attend at any one time, half in the two-year Internet-based program, and half in a residential program lasting ten months.
The student body includes officers from the Army and other branches of the U.S. military, civilian employees from such entities as the Pentagon, State Department and the National Security Agency and senior military officers from other nations.
