Dunnell presents lecture at Royal College of Music

Rebecca Dunnell
Dr. Rebecca Dunnell recently presented a lecture at the Royal
College of Music in London.

Dr. Rebecca Dunnell, associate professor of music, spent the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 2 in London where she presented a lecture at the Royal College of Music.

Her lecture focused on stimulating one’s creativity and interpretation in applied music studies through historical research, illustrated by her work with the Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp. Dunnell said the lecture was well attended and received one of the highest compliments when the event’s organizer described it as “inspirational” in the closing thanks from RCM.

Dunnell also was pursuing continued research during this trip, supported in part by a College of Arts and Sciences Research Assistance Award. The two areas she worked on were the Healthy Musician Initiative at the Royal College of Music and amateur flutist Adrien-Louis de Bonniéres, the Duc de Guines, French Ambassador to London during the 1770s who commissioned the Mozart Concerto.
