Erica Murphy, a Northwest senior merchandising major from Kansas City, has completed a 12-week internship program with the Sherwin Williams Co, according to recent release.
During her internship at the company’s Kansas City offices, Murphy joined two other interns in creating a marketing campaign targeting new homeowners and home buyers. The trio also traveled to an internship conference in Dallas, where they were given the opportunity to pitch marketing ideas to corporate executives and took first place in the conference’s Southwest Division.
One of the largest paint manufacturers and sellers in the United States, Sherwin-Williams is noted for its professional development programs and accepts only a handful of interns from the thousands of college students who submit applications each year. The Fortune 400 company has been rated by “Fortune” magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
Sherwin-Williams’ internship program is designed to provide a variety of experiences for students preparing for careers in the business/design field. Interns participate in activities related to marketing, customer service and business management. They are also expected to mix paint, unload trucks and do hands-on work in what the company describes as a “roll up your sleeves” environment.
