Regents to hear wind power presentation

The Northwest Board of Regents will meet in open session beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom.

Included on the agenda is a “showcase” presentation with regard to a proposed wind power generation project north of Maryville under development by Wind Capital Group. A Wind Capital representative is scheduled to address the board. 

Consideration items before the regents are to include: 

Among several reports to be submitted to the board is a summary of capital projects, which are either underway or in the planning process.  

Current construction and renovation projects include the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the lower level of Valk Center, the studio theater addition to the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts, the women’s locker room in Lamkin Activity Center and a new Facility Services Maintenance Building. 

Projects still in development include a series of recommendations by the Academic Space Planning Group, the College of Agriculture Master Plan, residence hall/student union proposals and a planned transportation and support services building. 

The Student Senate, Support Staff Council and Faculty Senate are also scheduled to make reports to the board. 

Following its regular meeting, the regents will adjourn and reconvene in closed session pursuant to exemptions to the open-meetings requirement as specified in R.S.MO 610.021(1),(2). Tentative agenda items to be discussed in closed session include:

If other items are to be discussed in closed session, the specific reason for doing so will be announced at the time, and the procedures of R.S.MO 610.022 will be followed. Following the closed session, the board may, at its discretion, reconvene in open session to discuss any old business or raise new items as individual members deem appropriate.
