Students join KXCV/KRNW summer broadcast team

KXCV/KRNW, the 100,000-watt public radio voice of Northwest Missouri State University, recently announced its slate of summer student employees for 2008. The student team will augment the station’s professional staff both behind the scenes and in front of the microphone.

“We are very happy to have these talented students join us for the summer,” said Programming Director Patty Holley. “Listeners will hear them announcing during our regular programming and may also see them in their communities covering news events.”

Full-time members of this year’s summer student staff include Andrew Tippin, Waukee, Iowa; Kyle Kurtz, St. Joseph; Aaron Luckert, Parnell; Julia Prokes, Maryville; and Michael Clements, Ravenwood.

Located at 90.5 (KXCV) and 88.9 (KRNW) on the FM dial, KXCV/KRNW broadcasts jazz, classical music, news, public affairs programs, variety shows and Bearcat sporting events.

On the air since 1971, KXCV was the first full-power public radio operation in Missouri. Today, from its studios in Wells Hall on the Northwest campus, KXCV/KRNW continues to provide a wide variety of popular programming that is enjoyed by listeners across north Missouri, north central Missouri and southwest Iowa.

KRNW, a repeater facility in Chillicothe, began operating in 1993 and significantly extended the station’s service area. Both KXCV and KRNW recently installed digital transmitters, allowing listeners with new-generation digital radios to receive near-CD quality sound.
