Regents will meet May 2 to consider 2008-’09 budget

The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents will convene in open session at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom.

Consideration items

*1. Minutes from previous meetings.
*2. Academic calendar for 2008-’09.
*3. Approval of degree candidates.
*4. Proposed and tentative Board of Regents schedule for 2008-’09 academic year.
*5. Curriculum summary.
6. Northwest Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
7. Rational Expectation Enrollment Plan (REEP); Faculty plan for academic years 2010-2014.
8. Change in sick leave policy.
9a. 2008-’09 enrollment and program fees.
9b. Resolutions from Committee on Student Fees chaired by Student Regent Aaron Baker.
10. Draft summary of education and general budget for 2008-’09.
11. New position requests.

*These items will be on a consent agenda for approval by summary action of the board.

Other Activities

Commissioning ceremony for Patrick Kohler, Belton, as a 2^nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom.

Closed Session

Following its regular session, the regents will reconvene in closed session pursuant to exemptions to the state open meetings requirement as specified in R.S.MO 610.021. Tentative agenda items include:

1. Appointment.
2. Promotion and tenure recommendations.
3. Middle and senior management salary levels.

Under Missouri’s open meetings law, the board may take up the following types of business in closed session:

Pending or threatened litigation (exempt from open meetings requirements pursuant to R.S.MO 610.021[1]).

Real estate matters (exempt from open meetings requirements pursuant to R.S.MO 610.021 [2]).

Personnel matters (exempt from open meetings requirements pursuant to R.S.MO 610.021 [3]).

Following the closed meeting, the board may, at its discretion, reconvene in open session to discuss any old business or raise new items as individual members deem appropriate.
