Musical comedian Stephen Lynch, who received a Tony Award nomination for his starring role in the stage version of “The Wedding Singer,” will bring his one-man show to Northwest at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.

Admission is free to Northwest students with a valid Bearcat ID. Tickets for the general public cost $5 and will be available at the door. The show, sponsored by the Student Activities Council, is recommended for mature audiences only.
Lynch, who began writing humorous songs as a teenager after watching the mock documentary “This is Spinal Tap,” found popularity performing in New York City comedy clubs and on radio programs like “Opie and Anthony.” He has since become a regular on the college circuit and a popular draw in nightclubs nationwide.
In 2000, Lynch starred in a “Comedy Central Presents” special and released his first CD, “A Little Bit Special.” Two years later, he released “Superhero,” a collection of live recordings from various venues in and around New York City. Subsequent CDs include “The Craig Machine” and “Live at The El Rey,” which sold more that 50,000 copies.
Lynch has also appeared at Montreal’s prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, as part of Comedy Central’s World Comedy Tour and on NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly.
