Founded in 1991, 3 Men & a Melody combine vocal virtuosity and comedy to produce an exciting blend of showmanship, close harmony and pure entertainment.

The quartet started as a collegiate quartet before going on to win the Central States District championship in 1998. Three years later, the foursome qualified for its first International Quartet Contest, finishing 17th and posting two more top-20 finishes in 2002 and 2004.

With a musical background ranging from classical to contemporary to doo-wop, 3 Men and a Melody performs a widely varied repertoire filled with songs and arrangements that offer something for everyone.

Their latest CD, “On the Edge,” includes swing tunes like "Hit That Jive Jack" and "Crazy Rhythm," big band ballads such as Cole Porter’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin," Kurt Bestor’s touching “Prayer for the Children” and the pop rocker “What I Like About You.”

Tenor Chris Droegemueller is responsible for many of 3 Men & a Melody’s arrangements while Eric Derks -- the “melody” -- fronts the foursome musically. Brian Bellof is a second-generation barbershop bass with a knack for showmanship, and baritone Brad Stephens specializes in over-the-top comedy.

As the University’s premier vocal ensemble, the Tower Choir, conducted by Dr. Stephen Town, professor of music, has been an important and prestigious part of Northwest musical tradition for many years.

Recent highlights have included a by-invitation performance at the Washington (D.C.) National Cathedral during an extended spring 2007 tour that also featured appearances in Maryland and New York.
