Fans urged to help welcome Bearcats home after game

Residents of Maryville and Nodaway County are invited to help welcome the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats football team home from the NCAA Division II national championship.

The team's buses are due to arrive in Maryville shortly before midnight Saturday, Dec. 15. Fans are asked to line Main Street from Kawasaki to Fourth Street, then down Fourth Street west to Lamkin Activity Center (Bearcat Arena).

Everyone is encouraged to make signs welcoming the team. Some signs will be made available to fans outside Lamkin.

Northwest (12-1) takes on Valdosta State of Georgia (12-1) at 11 a.m. CST Saturday for the Division II national championship. The game will be televised live on ESPN2, That's cable channel 24 in Maryville.
