The final Theatre Northwest Mainstage production of 2007 will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts, when Alpha Psi Omega presents its annual children’s show, “Beauty is a Beast” by D.M. Bocaz-Larson.
Admission is $2 or a gift of two canned food items for donation to local families and individuals in need.
A sly take on the fairytale “Beauty and the Beast,” “Beauty is a Beast” follows the comic exploits of a spoiled princess named Beauty who literally has her life turned inside out.
Beauty may be beautiful, but her bad behavior makes her a thoroughly ugly customer. When her Fairy Godmother turns her inside out, Beauty must learn not to be such a beast.
Complicating matters -- especially matters of the heart -- is Nick, a handsome, young peasant who knows exactly how to bring out the best in Princess Beauty.
“Beauty is a Beast” is directed by Northwest student Michelle Trester.
Alpha Psi Omega is an honorary theatre society whose members are selected on the basis of academic achievement and dedication to the dramatic arts. Each December APO sponsors a children's show, which is performed on campus and at local elementary schools.
