Jacqueline Lamer, instructor of mass communication, recently received the inaugural Excellence in Advertising Education Award from the Kansas City Ad Club.
Lamer accepted the award Nov. 9 at Cerner Corp.'s Riverport campus in Kansas City during the club's annual Career Day.
Accompanying Lamer at the day-long workshop were about 45 Northwest students, who attended sessions guided by industry professionals related to various facets of advertising and mass media.
"I think as a result of our regular attendance at this event, and because over the past five years or so we've placed some very talented graduates in the Kansas City market, Northwest now has a strong reputation in advertising circles in Kansas City," Lamer said. "I've had people in the industry tell me they prefer to hire Northwest advertising and Internet graduates because they are more prepared than those from other schools."
The Advertising Club of Kansas City has played an active role in the advertising, marketing and communications industry in greater Kansas City since 1902. One of the largest clubs of its kind in the country, it serves more than 600 members.
